The bag gets packed from week 34. Not because something is going to happen, but because an emergency gives no notice and a bag packed calmly is one less thing on your mind. This is the list Mexican practice asks for.
Your papers
- Valid official ID
- Prenatal card or appointment booklet
- Proof that your coverage is current
These three go on top, and photocopied. They are the first thing admissions asks for, and they are also what gets forgotten most when you leave in a hurry.
For you
- A front-opening robe
- Two nightgowns
- Non-slip slippers
- Postpartum pads
- Toiletries
For the baby
- Three outfits (onesie, shirt, hat)
- Newborn nappies
- A blanket
In the app this list is a checklist: you mark what you have already packed and see what is left. If your hospital asks for something different, follow your hospital — and tell us so we can check it.
This blog is about paperwork and how the health system works. It does not assess symptoms and it does not replace the appointment with your doctor or your midwife. If it is an emergency, call 911.
